Pericles' Penthouse combines the best of views to two temples, Parthenon and the Temple of Ifestos.
Pericles’ Penthouse combines the best of views to two temples, Parthenon and the Temple of Ifestos. It offers 360 degree views of Ancient and modern Athens. Despite its location on the busy Ifestou st. the double glass windows ensure quiet and relaxation. The furnishings were hand picked over many years to reflect respectfully the proximity to Ancient Athens.
The theme of the bedroom is Eros, inspired by the headboard and light fixture and the credenza cnobs. The handmade antique carpet adds a colorful note. The seating area is minimally decorated with a becoming anaklindron below a replica of Eggonopoulos’ Orphee and Eurydice. The kitchen combines marble and column shaped cabinet doors. The marble sink dominates the equally minimal bathroom.
Following the wooden staircase one comes to postcard-like windows to Ancient Agora, the Parthenon and byzantine monuments such as Panagia Grigoroussa, and Pandanassa as well as the more modern Athens Cathedral (Metropolis).
The views from here are, around the clock, breathtaking . This area of Pericles’ house serves both as a sitting and dining room as well as a bedroom. You may want to sleep enjoying the sight of the Parthenon lit or the pink colors of dawn from the sun emerging behind mount Hymettus. You may also enjoy from the marble bench or the chaise lounges the sunset orange sky behind the Temple of Ifestos.
Location
Pericles’ House is situated on Ifestou st, a market with a five thousand year history dating back to prehistory. To this date, it maintains a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. Yet, once one enters the House, one feels the aura of the Parthenon and the adjacent Ancient Agora with the Temple of Ifestos.
